Viral video of lady refusing groom to dance with bride only a display of ‘Da’chahili’ tradition among Dagombas
A video of a lady refusing a groom to dance with his bride has caused controversy on social media with many netizens questioning the rationale behind her actions.
From the viral video, the marriage appears to be an Islamic one as the couple dressed to suit the Islamic marriage setting.
As some netizens have been quick to rule out that the lady may be a side chick or an ex-girlfriend to the groom, a clear explanation has emerged contrasting the thoughts of social media users.
Amidst the controversy, the lady’s act of refusing the groom to dance with the bride, seem to be a common practice among the Dagombas known as the ‘Da’chahili.’
Traditionally, the Dagomba tribe have the female cousins regarded as wives of their male cousins and hence do this to create awareness for the family of the bride that their relative is being ‘stolen’ away during marriage ceremonies.
The bride also clarified on X saying “It’s our culture … she’s my wife from my family.. before I marry another woman, I need to pay her.”
😂😂😭😭

In some instances, it’s seen as an opportunity for the female cousins to ‘cash out’ big from the family of the bride by demanding for more cash to let go off their male cousin.
The ‘Da’chahili’ is only a hilarious display to spice up the marriage ceremony and must not be seen as anything otherwise.
No. The groom is our son, Salmaan.
This is neither Islamic nor attributable to some side chick saga.
It’s a “Dagbanli” tradition known as “Da’chahili”. It’s all play. They are probably cousins.
It’s also an opportunity for her to have made money, a lot of money 😁 https://t.co/19NdzYvIpN

Check out other comment from the Dagombas about the video below.
this is very common among we dagombas..traditionally, your female cousins are regarded as your wives and mostly, during your wedding they tend to do this just to let the woman know she is stealing their husband and this is nothing serious as you people are portraying it https://t.co/gYafZgEdLA
