This is the lowest I’ve ever seen – D-Black laments poor state of economy

Ghanaian artiste and entrepreneur, D-Black has bemoaned the current economic hardship faced in country.

Taking to X to express his frustration over the state of the economy, D-Black cited the cedi depreciation, the alarming unemployment rate and the high cost of food prices to describe the suffering of Ghanaians under the Akufo-Addo government.

The ‘Enjoyment Minister’ said the current state of the country’s economy is the lowest he has ever experienced.

“This is the lowest I’ve ever seen the state of our country’s economy. No jobs for the youth. Entrepreneurs are going through it! Costs of goods and services keep rising. The Cedi keeps depreciating at an alarming rate. So much isn’t going well… The people are complaining,” D-Black tweeted on May 30.

The musician’s frustration resonates with the cry of many Ghanaians who have complained bitterly about the economic hardship.

The current depreciation of the cedi has worsened the plight of Ghanaians who have urged government to urgently tackle the issue.

Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah in a recent interview with the media said the depreciation of the cedi is not a sole problem caused by the current government.

He explained that it has been ritual issue for various government but Dr. Bawumia will provide a lasting solution for the cedi depreciation when he assumes office as President.

“Cedi depreciation is a ritual problem, I agree with you. It’s not because of one particular government unless one is suffering from unconscious incompetence or displaying intellectual dishonesty that would say that cedi depreciation is NPP government.

“It’s an issue that needs nationalistic attention. So far as we keep on being imported-driven economy, we’ll be having problems with cedi because we import almost everything. But Insha-Allah, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, next year if he comes, we are going to design a long term framework to deal with the cedi,” he stated.
