Rawlings told me Mahama has taken the fortunes of NDC and can never be President before he died — NPP’s Owusu Bempah reveals

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu Bempah,  has revealed a conversation he had with the late Jerry Rawlings, founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), two months before his passing.

According to Owusu Bempah, Rawlings categorically stated that John Mahama, former President and NDC flagbearer, would never become President of Ghana.

Owusu Bempah shared this on the “Movement In The Morning” show aired on Movement TV, quoting Rawlings as saying, “Mahama had taken away the fortunes of the party and could never lead it to power.”

He emphasized that Rawlings, who played a crucial role in shaping the NDC, told him point-blank that Mahama’s presidency was impossible. “Spiritually, everything is settled, regardless of what Mahama does, he can never become the President,” Owusu Bempah stressed, insisting that he was being truthful about the conversation with the former President.

This revelation has sparked interest and debate, with many wondering about the implications of Rawlings’ statement on the NDC’s future and Mahama’s political ambitions.
