PNC to vet aspirants Thursday & Friday; Mornah, Apasera lead race

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has announced the end of nominations and filing, setting the stage for vetting.

The opposition party has, therefore, scheduled Thursday and Friday to vet the total of 17 aspirants who filed to contest various positions during Saturday’s Congress.

A statement issued by the Congress Committee said the candidates have been grouped into two for the vetting.

The first batch will be vetted between 10:00am and 1:00pm on Thursday and the second same time on Friday.

Among aspirants who successfully filed for the elections are Bernard Anbataayela Mornah and David Apasera, who are both vying for the party’s top spot as flagbearer.

For the Chairmanship position, Hajia Hajara Ali and Asaki Awingobit filed and will be facing the vetting committee.

Awudu Ishak and Yakubu Fahrudeen submitted forms to contest the General Secretary position in order to steer the party’s administrative affairs.

Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine will be battling to mobilize the party’s grassroots as aspirants for the National Organiser position while Christiana Fugah and Esther Osei will contend for the Women’s Organiser position.

Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen are vying for the Youth Organiser position while Emmanuel Akazabre is seeking to manage the party’s finances as Treasurer.

Others will be going for deputy positions. They include: Martin Anafo and Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru as Vice Chairman, Prince K. Agyeman-Duah as Assistant Secretary, Saeed Abdallah as Assistant Organiser and Narrita Mary Logah as Deputy Women’s Organiser.

“We look forward to a transparent, democratic, and successful vetting process, which will pave the way for our national congress and ultimately determine the fate of our party’s leadership,” the Congress Committee stressed.
