Mahama has only four years, he can’t develop Ghana – Bawumia to Savannah Region Chiefs

The 2024 presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a strong case in relation to why Ghanaians should vote him as president over his main contender, John Mahama.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) John Mahama can only serve as president for four years if elected, which he says is not enough to make any meaningful difference in the country’s developmental drive.

Addressing the chiefs and people of the Kpembe Traditional Area in the East Gonja Municipality on day one of his tour of the Savannah Region, Dr Bawumia said he is the right person to consolidate the developmental gains of the country under the NPP.

“This election is a very important one and we are two main contestants; myself and my contender John Mahama. My main opponent has been president before, but I haven’t been president.”

“If he comes back, he can only be president for four years, but if I come, I can be president for eight years. One way or the other, a northerner is going to be president, but do you want a president who will do one term or one who can do two terms?” he asked.

The Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area, Kpembewura Banbagne Ndefeso IV, urged the Vice President and his team to conduct a clean campaign devoid of insults.

“We are grateful to you for the development in the Savannah Region. However, I wish to appeal to you and your supporters to conduct a clean campaign devoid of name calling and insults,” he advised.

For his part, the parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Salaga South Constituency, Salifu Adam Braimah, the NPP is optimistic of annexing the parliamentary seat from the NDC come December 7.
