Lil Win apologises for “insensitive” statement rejecting accusations of neglecting accident victims
Weezy Empire, the Management of popular Kumawood actor, Lil Win has apologised for its earlier communication responding to claims of neglecting victims of his accident.
The earlier communique released by the Management which rejected the claim described the accusations of neglect of accident victims as “unwarranted” and “distasteful”.
The statement which was shared on Lil Win’s Instagram account on May 28 said “As much as we are saddened and traumatised, we find unwarranted allegations of neglect on our part as speculated by some commentators very distasteful and disturbing at this troubling time.”

This called for a severe backlash from some Ghanaians who regarded the statement as ‘insensitive’ to the bereaved family and chided the actor for his actions.
But Lil Win and his management upon reflecting on the feedback from Ghanaians have apologised for their earlier statement which responded to the allegations of neglect of victims.
The press release issued on May 29 explained that the previous statement did not seek to cause any distress for the family of the deceased three-year-old boy.
The actor has also postponed the premiere of his movie in Sunyani which was scheduled for June 1 over the death of the three-year-old boy in order to join in mourning with the family.
“We also understand that our previous communication may have been perceived as insensitive, and we apologize for any unintended distress caused,” portions of the statement said.
“The management of Weezy Empire regretfully announce the postponement of the premiere of its movie “A Country Called Ghana” initially scheduled to be screened in Sunyani on Saturday, June 1, 2024.”
“This difficult decision was made in respect of the memory of the three-year-old boy, Nana Yaw, who unfortunately lost his life in a tragic accident involving Lil Win.”
The statement said a new date will later be communicated for patrons who have purchased their tickets for the premiere. Tickets purchased still remain valid and can be used for the new date which will be communicated later.
