I deeply regret my outburst while explaining my absence from Claude’s funeral – KK Fosu apologises

Legendary Highlife musician, KK Fosu has issued an apology for his outburst during in an interview on Monday, July 22 while explaining his reasons for not attending a funeral of a victim he was involved in an accident with.

In an interview with Accra based Hitz FM, KK Fosu did not mince words when he said “I don’t Know Claude” and thus attending his funeral was not compulsory as he was also recovering from injuries sustained from the accident.

John Claude died on Saturday, May 25 in an accident on the Accra-Apam Highway involving KK Fosu, K Bless and others while they were attending a wedding.

John Claude Tamakloe was laid to rest at Tema Community 2 on July 19, 2024.

The legendary musician among other statements called out persons who had criticized him for his absence at John Claude’s funeral, the blogger who passed on due to the accident on May 25.

However, hours after the interview, KK Fosu issued a statement which indicated that he allowed his emotions to get the better part of him while addressing the matter.

He apologised to the family for any distress his words may have caused them. KK Fosu explained that his outburst was due to the fact that his critics did not consider his health condition when he was still recuperating from his injuries.

“Unfortunately, my emotions got the better of me, leading to an outburst that I deeply regret. This outburst was fueled by my feeling that people were not truly concerned about my state of health.

“I understand that my reaction was inappropriate and I am sincerely sorry for any hurt or distress it caused. I am committed to reaching out personally to the family of the deceased to offer my condolences and support,” excerpts of his statement said.

He further noted that his team was ready and willing to attend the funeral of the late John Claude until they learnt that the family was “unhappy with me because they believed their son was travelling with me at the time of the accident.”

He emphasized that he only met John Claude for the first time when they sat in the car together.

However, the musician expressed his preparedness to personally reach out to the family to offer his condolences and support.

While offering his condolences to the bereaved family, KK Fosu urged the Ghana Police to expedite investigations into the unfortunate incident.
