‘Fight against Dumsor transcends political affiliations’ – Yvonne Nelson says as she courts public support for protest
Ghanaian actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson has extended an invitation to Ghanaians to join her in an upcoming massive campaign against the recent erratic power cuts.
You recall that Yvonne Nelson together with other celebrities organized a massive protest against ‘dumsor’ back in 2015 under the John Mahama administration to express displeasure over the consistent power outages.
Yvonne Nelson is wishing for same vigil to happen and has court the support of the general public to join an imminent protest against ‘dumsor’.
The actress made the appeal in an open letter to Ghanaians which was tweeted on her page on X on Tuesday, April 30.
“I am extending an open call to all Ghanaians, organisations and legal professionals who are willing to join me in pushing for meaningful action to address the current power crisis.
“Together we can make our voices heard and compel our leaders to prioritize the needs of the Ghanaian people,” excerpts of her letter to Ghanaians read.

Yvonne Nelson noted that the 2015 protest against ‘Dumsor’ manifested because of the support of key individuals like IMANI Ghana’s Kofi Bentil, Prince David Osei, Sarkodie, D Black and others.
According to her, although some of these personalities have now aligned with a particular political party, Ghanaians must “come together and unite in pursuit of a brighter and more prosperous future for our nation.”
“I am aware that since the 2015 campaign, some individuals including Kofi Bentil who supported us on the legal front from IMANI Ghana have now aligned themselves with the current government. However, the fight against Dumsor transcends political affiliations, and we must unite as Ghanaians to address this issue,” she said.
She disclosed that she is yet to get a response from key individuals like IMANI Ghana’s Franklyn Cudjoe and Kofi Bentil to join the protest as they played a major role in the 2015 protest.
“I have reached out to key individuals from IMANI Ghana, including Kofi Bentil and Franklyn Cudjoe via WhatsApp text, but I am yet to receive a response regarding their interest in supporting another vigil,” the actress noted.
