December 7 elections: Some Okaikwei Central constituents vow to vote for Patrick Yaw Boamah

Some constituents of Okaikwei Central in the Greater Accra Region have pledged to retain the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Patrick Yaw Boamah.

They have expressed satisfaction with the performance of Yaw Boamah and have vowed to maintain him to represent the constituency in Parliament come December 7 general elections.

Okaikwei Central in the Greater Accra Region had remained a stronghold for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In the 2020 general elections, NPP presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo pulled 25,109 representing 53.57 percent whilst the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama pulled 21,463 representing 45.79 percent.

The incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah, polled 27, 935 representing 59.62 percent as compared to the NDC 2020 parliamentary candidate, Abdul Rashid Issah, who had 18,922 representing 40.38 percent.

However, the upcoming December 7 general elections promises to be a close contest as the opposition NDC has changed their parliamentary candidate.

Former CEO of 3Media Networks, Sadiq Abudulai Abu, won his bid to contest for the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections.

Sadiq Abudulai who won the primaries in 2023 with a landslide victory appears to be a threat for the incumbent as he has ostensibly managed to win the heart of the youth in the area.

Similarly, some of the electorates in an interview with Onua News have lauded Yaw Boamah for developing and transforming the constituency into a better residential area.

They have described his performance as satisfactory and consummate, claiming that 90 percent of roads in the constituency have been fixed.

They equally touched on other sectors they believe the Member of Parliament has performed well which include education, health and sports as he has constructed more than two AstroTurf to enhance the talents of the youth.

Assembly member for Apenkwa electoral area, Enoch Owusu Okyere, in the same vein could not hide his joy as he talked about the level of development in the area.

He mentioned the expansion of their road network, Apenkwa CHPS compound facelift, supply of desks and teaching materials to schools and the fact that streetlights have been fixed to avert attacks in the night.

Owusu Okyere insisted that a performing MP cannot be changed hence appealed to the people of Apenkwa and other electoral areas within the constituency to vote for Patrick Yaw Boamah come December 7.
