Cassie breaks silence on viral CCTV footage of Diddy’s assault against her

American singer Cassie Ventura, widely known as Cassie, has reacted in a statement to the viral CCTV footage by CNN which showed Diddy assaulting her.

The video of the attack in 2016 was released last week by CNN. Ms Ventura had alleged her ex-boyfriend and producer assaulted her in a legal action last year.

Cassie wrote in her message that she was overwhelmed by the love and support she had received from friends, family, and even complete strangers when CNN released exclusive evidence of Diddy physically abusing her in a hotel.

“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past,” Cassie shared.

Cassie emphasized the importance of taking domestic violence seriously and urged people to believe victims the first time they come forward.

In her statement, she encouraged victims of domestic violence to shun living in fear and encouraged them to reach out to their loved ones.

“Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.

“I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone,” she said.

Acknowledging the continuous nature of her healing journey, Cassie highlighted the significance of the support she has received.

“This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.”

Diddy apologised at the weekend, commenting in an Instagram video: “I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”

In his apology, Mr Combs said: “I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.”

The musician is also facing fresh law suit from former model Crystal McKinney who has accused Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2003.

Crystal McKinney said in a lawsuit that Mr Combs invited her to his New York studio and plied her with alcohol and marijuana until she became intoxicated.

Representatives of Mr Combs are yet to comment on this new law suit.
