Bawumia will consult chiefs before introducing major policies – Opoku Prempeh

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said that the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will consult chiefs for their input before the introduction of important policies when he becomes president on January 7, 2025.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh who made the disclosure in Tepa in the Ashanti Region during a campaign tour, said Dr. Bawumia’s administration would give maximum respect and voice to the revered traditional leaders.

“My boss, Dr. Bawumia has given me an important message to be delivered to you Nana. He said his government will make sure that suggestions from Nananom will be sought before important policies are introduced.

“He also said his government will put in place policies and programmes that will make our respected chiefs actively contribute to the development of the country”, NAPO announced to Tepahene, Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia has realized that the voices of traditional leaders are not being heard enough in national affairs currently, stressing the need for the wise chiefs to be given more roles to play in the governance of the country.

The former Manhyia South Member of Parliament indicated that chiefs, with their unique position in society, are huge assets to national development, stressing the need for chiefs to be encouraged and supported to properly contribute to national growth.

He also said the incoming Dr. Bawumia government will also provide the needed support to the revered chiefs to enable them to carry out their duties effectively, urging the chiefs to support the NPP with prayers to win the next elections.
