Bawumia storms Mahama’s backyard as he intensifies engagements up north

After a four-day break from his northern regional tour, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia returned to the campaign trail on Sunday, July 21 to continue from where he paused in the north.

Dr. Bawumia took a four-day break and returned to Accra for official duties, and his return will see him cover remaining constituencies in the the north.

Dr. Bawumia, who started his northern campaign right after unveiling his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh earlier this month, has so far toured about half of constituencies in engagements that have attracted milling crowds.

Dr. Bawumia has also been receiving the support and blessings of traditional rulers from various parts of the north in his bid to be elected to serve as President.

On his return to the campaign trail in the Savannah Region, Dr. Bawumia is expected to storm the Bole, home of his main contender, former President John Mahama.

He has so far attracted huge crowds in the Savannah Region, and traditionally, he enjoys mammoth reception in Bole from growing number of NPP enthusiasts.

Bole used to be a complete safe ground for the NDC, where they win by landslide margins, but since the emergence of Dr. Bawumia, the NDC’s complete dominance is waning, in spite of former President Mahama being the party’s candidate in the last three general elections.
