Asawase NDC launches campaign | 3News

Victory for the National Democratic Congress in Asawase constituency is non-negotiable.

That’s the words of the former Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak and some members of the party after a massive turnout at the constituency’s campaign launch on Sunday, August 4.

Though a traditional seat for the NDC, the New Patriotic Party is poised to snatch it.

But Muntaka is convinced that victory is assured, come December 7.

“The NPP thought that NDC is divided in the constituency, but we are solidly united. And I can definitely assure you that, nobody can take the Asawase seat from NDC. We are retaining it with even more votes for John Mahama”, the 5-time Asawase lawmaker firmly indicated.

Asawase has since its creation in 2004 maintained its spot as a stronghold for the NDC in Ashanti Region.

“When you look at the voting trend in Asawase, we keep getting better so the NPP is just dreaming and that dream will never become a reality”, a youth leader for NDC in Asawase, Umar Harris pointed out.

The National Democratic Congress says securing 35 percent of votes in Ashanti Region will guarantee its presidential candidate’s victory for 2024.

Addressing members of the party in Asawase, former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu said he trusts the people of Ashanti will support the NDC.

“I hear the NPP say that Ashanti is for NPP. Ashanti is only for the NPP if they’re performing. Ashanti is only for the NPP if businesses are good and if unemployment is low. But with the current state of affairs, we in the NDC are optimistic that Asanteman will support John Dramani Mahama to win.

“We need a just a little above 35 percent in the Ashanti Region and we will declare John Mahama as the winner of the 2024 presidential election”, he stated.

Leadership of NDC say it will ensure that every single ballot is protected, especially in the Ashanti region.

“I heard the NPP saying they are targeting 85 percent of the votes in Ashanti, but that can never be possible. This time we will not sit for them to rig the election. We are battle ready to protect and ensure every valid ballot is counted”, Asokwa NDC parliamentary candidate, Amoh Kamel warned.

Haruna Iddrisu called on all NDC members to protect the ballot.

“When you vote, particularly in the Ashanti Region let’s police it until the end”.

The Asawase NDC is satisfied with the massive turnout for the campaign launch, saying it is a testament that retaining the seat is a done deal for NDC.
