Akufo-Addo must apologise to Ghanaians for prevailing hardship – Nyaho-Tamakloe

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has called on President Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians for the economic hardship currently being experienced in the country.

This comes after Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, stated that the governing NPP stands a better chance of winning the December polls if its members apologize for the current state of the economy.

However, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe believes the call should rather be directed at the President Akufo-Addo and not the NPP.

“Kennedy Agyapong’s call, to me, is a very good call. But one thing is that you ask yourself, has it come too late or too early? To me it’s come too late,” the NPP stalwart noted.

“When there is economic hardship it’s the rank and file that suffer. There are people who cannot have a meal a day. They live on water and even water, it’s a problem, bottle or pure water you know how much it costs. The President, as Nkrumah used to do years ago, he should come out with a dawn broadcast as Nkrumah did for all Ghanaians to listen to his apology, maybe that might turn the minds of the people,” he suggested.

Dr. Nyaho -Tamakloe said promises made by the government to the people have not been fulfilled.

“They gave us promises which have not been fulfilled, assurances which never came. Indeed democracy itself which is the foundation to our party has been grossly destroyed,” he said.

The NPP stalwart urged the government to listen to the people instead of their own interest.

“The masses’ strength can never be underestimated, …what happened in Bangladesh just yesterday has come to prove my point again. When the masses move, there is nothing you can do,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe cautioned.

He urged governments and leaders to always listen to the cries of the people for peace to prevail.
