Promise to hand over to me if I win the election – Mahama tells Akufo-Addo

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has said that it does not rest with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to decide who he hands over to after the general elections.

Mr Mahama stated that the president will have no option but to hand over to whoever is elected by the people of Ghana.

Speaking to the central regional house of chiefs after introducing his running mate to them, on Tuesday, July 30, Mr Mahama said “Please tell [President Akufo-Addo], it is not in his mouth to determine who he will hand over to.

“He should just promise that when the elections are held whoever wins he will hand over but you can’t say you won’t hand over to John Mahama, if the people of Ghana say John Mahama is who they want and they elect me, you will have to hand over to me.”

President Akufo-Addo had said that he could not hand over to some he defeated twice in the elections.

It is recalled that while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra region following a visit to the premises of Blue Skies Limited Mr Akufo-Addo said “The registration has started, I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power.

Don’t vote for Mahama, he’ll destroy all the good works I have done – Akufo-Addo

“I can’t hand over to someone I defeated twice and is not happy with everything I do, he will destroy the work that I have done. Vote for Dr Bamwua, I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work.”
