A senior member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has made a bold prediction regarding the fate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections.

Adorye believes that widespread dissatisfaction with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, will lead to the party’s defeat and potentially push them into opposition.

In an interview with Nana Yaa Brefo on Onua FM, July 4, Adorye emphasized that his remarks were not driven by personal animosity towards NAPO, whom he considers a friend and a brother as “Opoku Prempeh is a good friend of mine and a brother. On a personal score, he is very good. He is a real human, he is forceful as well,” highlighting their personal bond.

The politician was quick to point out that it is the general sentiment of the people towards NAPO that he believes will be the deciding factor in the NPP’s potential downfall.

“The general feeling of the people towards Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is what will take the NPP into opposition. The general feeling of the people, that is what will take the NPP to opposition,” he reiterated, underscoring the potential political ramifications.

Adorye went on to predict that the NPP’s loss would be historic with Dr Prempeh as the party’s running mate, in his own words, “The loss of the NPP will be historical, their loss will be historical,” he stated, foreseeing a significant shift in the political landscape.

According to Adorye, the NPP is expected to place third in the general elections, trailing behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Movement of Change, which he supports.

“For this general election, the NPP will place third with NDC and Alan’s party, Movement of Change, in the run-offs,” he said.

As the political landscape in Ghana heats up, Adorye’s comments add to the growing discourse on the NPP’s electoral prospects.

Whether his predictions will materialize remains to be seen.
