Ambulance trial against Ato Forson borne out of malicious and sinister desire – NDC
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has kicked against the Ambulance trial against the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson by the Attorney-General, Godfred Dame.
Chairman of the party, Asiedu Nketia said the Attorney-General has no case against Mr. Ato Forson as his then boss, Seth Terkper had already testified that he directed him to order the letters of credit from the Bank of Ghana to be used for the purchase of the Ambulance under the erstwhile Mahama government.
At a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, May 28, Asiedu Nketia described the trial as one borne out of “malicious, sinister and wicked desire.”
He further noted that the Attorney-General is only seeking to “silent Ato Forson through unjust imprisonment.”
The NDC believes that Minority leader’s vehement opposition to the government’s inappropriate fiscal measures and introduction of some taxes has orchestrated the trial against him only to “silent him”.
But the NDC says, Dr. Ato Forson is “doing well for the country” and they “kept promoting him” amidst the Ambulance trial.

NDC’s press conference was responding to the claim made against Attorney-General Godfred Dame by the third accused in the Ato Forson trial, Richard Jakpa.
The Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson, Sylvester Anemana as well as private businessman, Richard Jakpa, are standing trial for willfully causing a financial loss of €2.37 million to the state through a contract to purchase 200 ambulances for the Ministry of Health, among other charges.
The state has, however, discontinued the case against Sylvester Amemana.
