Entertainment entrepreneur and politician, Baba Sadiq, has reacted to criticism from online users after a video of him pounding fufu went viral in July during a door-to-door campaign.

The incident, which occurred during his campaign for the parliamentary seat in Okaikoi Central in the Greater Accra Region, created a lot of talk on social media.

In an interview on Hitz FM on August 7, 2024, Baba Sadiq clarified that his actions were motivated by a desire to connect with the community and not for votes.

“Sometimes, when you go from house to house, you meet them. It’s just familiarity. You go to their house, you see her pounding, and you decide to help her. It wasn’t to attract anything,” he stated.

Sadiq confirmed that his photographers were behind the viral photos on social media and he isn’t bothered by the criticisms he’s received.

“It was funny. When you’re a politician and you know the realities, some of these comments don’t get to you. You just laugh about it and move on,” he said.

Sadiq added that he was only concerned about the feedback from the woman, her household, and other constituents and not the online criticisms.
