I have resolved issue with Team Eternity Ghana over ‘Defe Defe’ lyrics – Kwame Mickey

Ghanaian music producer, Kwame Mickey, has announced the resolution of a copyright issue with Team Eternity Ghana which he accused of using ‘Defe Defe’ lyrics in their new song.

The veteran music producer in a statement issued through his OFM company announced that “the issue that arose concerning Team Eternity Ghana’s use of a portion of the existing song titled ‘Defe Defe’ in their new song also titled ‘Defe Defe’ has been amicably resolved.”

“The parties have duly entered into a License Agreement under which Kwame Mickey grants to Team Eternity Ghana the non-executive right to use in the new song, those words derived from the existing song,” the statement issued on July 1 further stated.

Few weeks ago, Team Eternity Ghana was accused of sampling Kwame Mickey’s wroks for their hit song ‘Defe Defe’

In a Facebook post, Kwame Mickey, the executive producer for Hallelujah Voices’ ‘Defe Defe’, claims that Team Eternity Ghana has infringed on his copyright by using a line in his Hallelujah Voices’ ‘Defe Defe’, for their new hit song.

“Who is that Defe Defe Singer if I start right now…what is the difference between the 2 songs??? Somebody tell her to report and do the needful that’s all,” he wrote on Facebook, June 17.

‘Defe Defe’ song performed by Hallelujah Voices, was written by Osuani Afrifa and executively produced by Kwame Mickey for Kaakyire Music Productions. It was released in 2004.

Team Eternity in January this year also released an album ‘Testimony’ which had the song ‘Defe Defe’ on it.

The song “Defe Defe” reached number one spot on Apple Music Ghana’s Top 100 and is topping other charts.
