I brought Larusso to the limelight with ‘Killy Killy’ song – Martison Ampadu (Kulubayu)

Music producer and sound engineer, Martison Ampadu known as Kulubayu has opened up about what led to his break up with artiste, Larusso.

Martison, the producer behind Larusso’s hit song, ‘Killy Killy’ said after creating the beat for the song which became a banger, Larusso and his manager decided to look elsewhere for their production.

Speaking on 3FM’s Drive with Giovani Caleb, Martison disclosed that he has produced professionally for six years. He revealed that the originator of the ‘Killy Killy’ beat is Pac, producer for Shatta Wale who he trained.

Martison said he did a remix of the beat which is similar to that of Shatta Wale’s ‘Aye Halfcast’ to create Larusso’s banger.

Although, Larusso and his manager paid Martison, he said he did not originally charge them the appropriate fees and only took a less amount.

He claimed that after Larusso’s hit song, he became their second option because he was approached by many sound engineers.

He explained that he became a second option to them although he worked with them. Explaining what led to the split up, Martison said he only demanded to be paid ‘what he deserved’ and this caused the break up with Larusso’s team.

“They [Larusso and his manager] are part of the disappointment. After that song, everybody wanted to produce Larusso for free because he was everywhere and now they did not want to come to my studio anymore.

“All they do is when they go and get the vocals and its not good, they come back with the beat and they are like you need to retake the vocals, mix and master for us. That’s how come I worked on almost all of his songs. I had to redo, mix and master again.

“With time, I had issues with them. I was like you guys need to pay me well because I deserve better. So it got to a time they felt like he’s charging more so we can’t go there again so after a while I didn’t produce for them anymore,” he narrated on June 21.
