Gisela Amponsah’s remarks about her father smacks of a cry for help – Regina Van-Helvert
Media Personality and actress, Regina Van-Helvert has come to the defense of Snapchat Influencer, Gisela Amponsah after the latter revealed her bad blood with her biological father.
The young influencer in a conversation on the ‘Rants, Bants and Confession’ podcast aired on Wednesday, August expressed her disdain for her father and described him as a “demon” disclosing that he never showed her love and ignored her.
“I don’t even want to talk about that man because I don’t want to give him the clout. I have never rated him. I’m very disrespectful towards my dad and I am not even going to shy away from it…I don’t like talking about him because he is a demon. When I say men are trash, it starts from him,” she bluntly noted.
However, speaking in an interview on 3FM Lounge, Friday, August 9, Van-Helvert opined that the backlashes against the influencer is not needed as the critical issue of her father ignoring her must be the focus.
Although the TV personality acknowledged that Gisela disrespected her father in one way, she contended that the criticisms were uncalled for as Gisela Amponsah was bitter and has had to deal with many hurdles in life due to the absence of her father.
She rather urged that the young influencer should be met with help, love and kindness and not criticisms.
“Are people watching this thing to understand it from her point of view? When I heard her speak although there was a bit of disrespect there but I was also hearing a cry for help.
“For someone who has dealt with daddy issues from her childhood and her father who was supposed to be the primary care giver and provide her basic needs was not there for her and now she has tried and achieved something for herself and she is expecting her dad to at least show some appreciation and support but he still goes down to downplay her efforts and doesn’t care and she is sharing her experience and the first thing we think about it respect?
“We are not thinking about what this lady has dealt with…have we thought about what she had to dealt with? The people who have had to take advantage of her because of the absence of her dad in her life, what she’s had to give up on, the sacrifices she’s had to make when she did not have to if her father was present, we don’t know all of that.
“I think at this point she needs kindness, love and grace. That’s what she needs,” Regina explained.
