Ama Governor to be called to the Bar after been denied entry twice

Social media influencer, Elorm Ababio, popularly known as Ama Governor has finally been given a call to the Ghana Bar after being denied entry inn 2022 and 2023.

This was announced by the Ghana School of Law on a notice board on May 21, 2024. She joins 181 other individuals who are qualified to be called to the bar on May 31, 2024.

However, the list of persons outlined to be called to the Bar is subject to any change by the General Legal Council as and when the Council determines.

The official notice from the Ghana School of Law stated: “The list of persons qualified to be called to the bar per a notice issued under the hand of the Director of the Ghana School of Law is not exhaustive and may change upon the attention of the General Legal Council drawn to certain irregularities.”

This development follows her two consecutive denials to be called to the bar in 2022 and 2023.

The graduate of the Ghana School of Law garnered attention online back in 2022 and 2023 when she was denied to be called to the Bar.

The General Legal Council cited “conduct unbecoming of an applicant to be called to the Bar” as reason for denying her to be called to the Bar.

The decision resulted in a public debate with many questioning the basis for her refusal. While some commended the General Legal Council for its decisions, the GLC received massive backlash from social media users and some fans and sympathizers of the influencer.
